A penny for your thoughts? 字面上的意思是用一分钱来买你的思想？
其实就是在问What are you thinking about?
当发现一个人若有所思，想了解他/她在想什么时就能用这句来问，应该注意由于它其实是个问句，所以在说时句尾要用上扬的问句语调
譬如：
A: A penny for your thoughts?
B: Im thinking about what to make for dinner.
A: A penny for your thoughts?
B: Nothing much. Just wondering about Nancy.
A: What about her?
B: She seemed a little distant this morning.

What are you thinking about? 和 What are your thoughts? 两句话的意思是完全不一样的哦
What are you thinking about? 是在问他们在想些什么
但What are your thoughts? 是在问他们对当下在谈论的事情的怎么看
也可以说 What are your thoughts/opinions on this?
